Not an after thought

There are those in the religious world who believe and teach that the church that Jesus built (Matt. 16:18) was an after thought of God. They believe that Jesus came to establish a kingdom on earth but because the Jews rejected Him, He had to build the church instead. The problem with that is, it is wrong. The church of Christ was not an after thought of God but His eternal purpose (Eph. 3:10-11). Establishing the church has always been in the mind of God. It's the vehicle by which God saves us (Eph. 5:23). The saved are in it (Acts 2:47).
